Finding beauty together in dementia's changing landscape.

The Kaleidoscope is a community where care partners and people living with dementia come together to find joy, humor, compassion, and life as it is being lived right now.

What we believe

There is still life being lived.

There is still connection, meaning, humor, creativity, and love. Your love ones are not gone before they’re gone. At The Kaleidoscope Dementia Resource Center, we believe dementia does not erase who someone is. Every individual continues to experience moments of joy, purpose, emotion, and relationship. Even as life changes, there are still opportunities to connect, support one another, and find beauty together along the way.

"Each moment in the dementia journey is painting a beautiful picture to behold — like a kaleidoscope does with each turn of the wheel. But like a kaleidoscope, you need light to see it. Our hope is to help care partners find that light."

That belief shapes everything we do. The way we gather. The way we listen. The way we hold space for people in the middle of an unknown season, and the way we honor the person they love, exactly as they are today.

How we gather

Three ways to connect

All gatherings are free, held in person in Wyckoff, and created for connection, support, and community.

What makes us different

Support should not depend on finding someone else to stay with the person you love.

Many care partners miss out on support because attending a group means arranging separate care first. That can feel overwhelming, complicated, or simply impossible.

At The Kaleidoscope, we created something different. We believe there is something meaningful about gathering together in person. While care partners share conversation and support, individuals living with cognitive change spend time nearby with trained volunteers in a space designed for connection, comfort, and meaningful engagement. Loved ones remain close enough to see one another, offering reassurance and familiarity throughout the experience.

One care partner shared that it had been years since he had seen his wife smile, laugh, and connect with others in that way. — A care partner, after his first visit
